Day 1 Well, along the way to our final destination in Virginia, we made several stops along the way. We stopped at one of the national parks in West Virginia and had a few unexpected guests. This was the first time Quentin and Laurie had seen these bugs, and they were startled by them. Driving through the mountains, Laurie decided to take some pictures of the mountains from the car. Finally, before leaving West Virginia, we stopped at Sandstone National Park. Had some good views of the gorge, and saw the Sandstone Falls. We didn't get up close to them, but from the distance they were absolutely amazing. Day 2 On Saturday we were within 2 hours of the resort, but had several hours to kill. So Laurie decided we should visit a Safari Zoo. Here you drove you car through the zoo, feeding the animals from your car. They come right up to your car, and some would even poke their head into the car to get to the food. Steve got to find out what the inside of a camels mouth feels like when a camel decided to poke his head through the drive side window to get to the food that Laurie had to feed them. Well, the camel decided to bite my elbow since I was in the way! It didn't hurt too much, just chomped down a little. It did make a mess out of my shirt, otherwise I was unhurt. More funny than anything... After that, it was time to head to the resort to check in. I'll get some pictures of the resort and post them next time. Day 3 Sunday we didn't do much, a friend from West Virginia came up to see us. So we just spent the day chatting. In the evening we went to an arcade and played games for a few hours. Nothing too exciting. Day 4 Monday, we decided to go to Virginia Beach for a few days. We checked into the Sandcastle Resort that provided us a private balcony with a nice view of the beach and the pier. While walking along the boardwalk, Quentin snuck into a tatoo parlor and got a tattoo without our knowledge! Well, not really we approved of it, it only lasts for about 2 months, then it fades away. After dinner, we walked out on the pier and got a little surprise view of a dolphin swimming around. I got one picture of the fin poking out of the water, but I did manage to get a couple of videos of the dolphin swimming around. The video links are posted below. Around 7:30, Quentin and Steve couldn't resist any longer, they had to go for a swing. 3 hours later they got out and went back to the room for a rest. http://www.slqkean.com/photos/albums/Virginia_2008/Day4/fin1.mp4 http://www.slqkean.com/photos/albums/Virginia_2008/Day4/fin2.mp4 http://www.slqkean.com/photos/albums/Virginia_2008/Day4/fin3.mp4 Write Comment (14 comments) |
